Setting up the box

Dear all,

Sorry if people think there has been little progress on the
nexbox (I've been doing these expander things which have made
me get into Paneris and see what's happening a bit).

But as for the newbox proper, I've looked at the Requirement
and Functional specifications (from TimJ). I think it might be
a bit early for the architecture document, but this document
should form the basis of the Implementation Plan. I have
altered the documentation document to include a section on
the Implemenation Plan. Could people please look at it and
modify it (under /system/quality). Note that we still don't
have a quality plan explained (although I think I have the
gist).

So, the implementation plan so far is:

1) Update Perl and Postgresql
2) Set up a CVS repository to cover the web server

Note that all access to the file system in Paneris
must be converted so that CVS mediates. I have worries
about checking out one file and replacing it (when we
do a 'modify this document') but William thinks things
should be OK. When do we 'release' a new version of the
web site? Do we need to (I'm still grappling with CVS...)

3) Install the current Paneris site into the repository
and the current code into it's own directory (still fighting
to get Apache to recognise new CGI directories - sigh).

4) Install the current PMS and get it working. Will, do you
have a nice script to extract the data from the PMS? I
don't have Access 97 here...

And then... mostly depends on whether PanerisII will be done
in Perl or Java.

Comments?
