I have changed the permissions on home/ftp/pub to be 557 so that users can write to it.

I appreciate that this may well be incorrect.

I guess the problem is our user model?

Full permissions are granted for all users by default, whereas we should have a group that grants full permissions, and be able to set up groups for say "ftp users".

I need to buy unix for dummies. doh.. so much to do.
