Quality First

Profitable Livestock production depends on optimising outputs while controlling inputs.
For the vast majority of livestock enterprises feed is the biggest variable cost and the most important - so choosing the right feed company can make all the difference.

MEW - Quality First

As a progressive farmer you want to ensure that the feed you buy is one of the highest quality and produced using the latest technology to make the most of its nutritional value. You also need to be confident that it represents value for money. Probably you want to deal with a no frills, trustworthy company that delivers quality feeds, on time every time.

Any customer can arrange to visit our mill and observe our quality control procedures and manufacturing processes at first hand. This is what we call our open mill policy and it demonstrates the commitment we have to ensure the integrity of our business.

Feed processing starts with raw material intakes at our mill. All raw material loads entering our m ill must have:

  • full and appropriate documentation
  • a sample taken on arrival

The following information is recorded for every load of raw materials:

  • material name
  • quantity
  • supplier
  • haulier
  • date/time of delivery

The material is transferred to a storage bin or silo and this information is logged in to the computer system.

Raw materials are processed through the mill and are uniquely identified by a manufacturing batch number. This is registered in the computer control system and is recorded with the time of manufacture, raw materials used and from which bins and silos they came. In addition, the production conditions and the people responsible for manufacture at that time are recorded.

For every run of feed produced, a sample of finished product is taken and tested for physical quality. The finished product bin in which a batch is stored is also recorded on the computer system.
