1. Introduction

This document has been written following a meeting between Ed Ross and Mark Ryan of Keyhaven International and Tim Joyce of HOOP Ltd. It is designed to set out the tasks involved in creating a website for SkyGuard Telematics Ltd, a new company building mobile tracking systems. The initial site is designed to complement physical material being used by SkyGuard to raise investment money. As SkyGuard move towards selling systems to customers, the site will act as an online brochure and support system etc.

"The aim is to generate a simple online presence that reflects the core value of the company and provides a temporary online brochure"

The site should be "interesting and reflecting the company's profile of high-tech, visionary, quality and longevity".

2. Site Design

2.1 General Design Considerations

Ideas for the design should draw from:

The site will be enhanced by images. HOOP will attempt to source pictures of satellites etc, although anything that Skyguard or Keyhaven can supply is a bonus. The cost of purchasing stock images will need to be borne by Skyguard, any such purchases will be agreed in advance. We will try and find what we need from free libraries.

2.2 Home Page

The home page will display the menu, and an introduction to Skyguard. It will also give an instant feel for the information on other pages using short descriptions. The menu will contain links to the content pages:

2.3 The Technology

This page will have a brief overview of the technology being used. It will split into 3 key areas for more details. It will include a diagram of the system, and some nice pics of satellites etc. The 3 sub-pages are:

  1. Locator Unit
  2. Communications System
  3. Command and Control

We will attempt to obtain a screen-dump from the DEC system to illustrate the C&C software.

2.4 The Product

This page will split into 4 sub-pages containing information on the different products and their markets. The content will be deliberately sparse so as not to give important information away to competitors. The key markets are:

  1. Security
  2. Supply Chain
  3. Surveillance

Appropriate pics will need to be sourced for each area, and copy will need to be supplied.

2.5 Recruitment

Skyguard is expecting to grow quickly, and the best place to recruit quality technical staff is online. This page will simply display job specifications and allow initial contact to be made.

2.6 Corporate Overview

This page will reflect the companies vision. It will also give details that are useful to the investor community. A sub-page will give details and photos of the management team

2.7 Press Releases

This page will be updated frequently with new press releases. A full archive of press releases will always be available.

2.8 Contact Us

This page will give full contact details for Skyguard, including a structured form so that specific information can be requested. All interested people will be given the option of joining a Skyguard mailing list.

2.9 Links

This page will contain a list of links that are useful to visitors to the SkyGuard site, and reciprocal links arranged with SkyGuard's strategic partners.

3. Other Considerations

3.1 Web Space and Domain Name

These have both been organized by Keyhaven, who will advise HOOP before the launch.

3.2 Promotion

The site will need to be promoted online. HOOP will register the site with the top 20 search engines, pages that list 'new sites', and specific search engines catering for companies in Skyguard's industry sector. We cannot guarantee the results of these registrations, but we'll try our best. As the SkyGuard technology becomes a product, a broader promotional campaign should be organized, HOOP will provide consultancy and skills for this campaign as the need arises.

3.3 Maintenance

It is anticipated that the site will grow rapidly with the company. HOOP will be available to respond quickly to update the site. In order to provide maximum flexibility, HOOP will price each of the updating tasks individually, based on our standard rate of £36 per hour.

3.4 Timescales

The original target launch date is the 18/06/1998. This will not be met. It is anticipated that a Home page can be put on the site by the 22/06/1998, with the content pages being added shortly afterwards.
