This document has been written following the production of a site design as requested by Ed Ross of Keyhaven International and Tim Joyce of HOOP. It is designed to set out the tasks involved in creating a website for EMS a leading UK field Marketing Company. The site design is based on a brochure produced by EMS, and will draw heavily from the brochure for both look and content.
The home page will display the menu, and an introduction to EMS, who they are and what they do. This has already been designed. The menu will contain links to the content pages.
Additionally we can add a link to EMS's ground breaking database "Market Eye". Ed - is it worth pursuing this, is it up and running, can we provide an interface to it?
This page will provide details of case studies as supplied with the brochure. It will profile in some depth 4 big clients: Toshiba, Compaq, IBM, Xerox.
This page will allow new clients to fill out a brief questionnaire form that will be emailed to EMS. It will also give details of EMS's telephone number and address, and a link to allow unformatted email to be sent.
This page will list links to online resources that may be valuable to EMS's customers. It can also be used to exchange links with appropriate partners as part of EMS's online promotion. As EMS's clients are all very high profile, links to their websites (and any reciprocal arrangement) would be strongly beneficial to EMS.
EMS already have web space at www.emsltd.co.uk, this space will be used for this site.
HOOP offer three levels of service:
Basic: Takes your choice of keywords, relate to appropriate web pages on customer's site, promote by hand on a rolling basis for six weeks to top eight search engines. Promote to minor search engines for six weeks. Provide weekly reports on position of three keyword-URL combinations within the top eight search engines.
Better: As above plus. Advice on choice of keywords, having looked at competitor's sites. 10 week promotion period for all search engines. Weekly report on 5 keyword-URL combinations. Advice on basic changes to key words to improve search visibility.
Best: As above plus Advice on meta-tags, having researched customer site. Research of three designated competitor sites to compare search engine visibility. Hand and telephone special submission to four major search engines. Advice on creation of special search engine home page. Advice on possible changes to meta-tags and key words, plus other suggestions for raising search engine visibility, particularly linking. 4 month promotion period.
High visibility on the major search engines is the single most important factor in driving up site traffic, and attaining a top 30 position is becoming much harder, as more and more effort is being made by major sites to maximize their search engine visibility. We suggest that it is important to plan this into aspects of the site design. The research into competitor's sites can be very useful and is the work that is particularly time consuming.
It is anticipated that the site will be low maintenance and no maintenance contract needs to be signed. Maintenance tasks will be quoted for on an as-required basis.
These estimates are given for guidance only.
