Version 1.1 11/02/1998 TTJ
Contents:
White and Wilson require a Web presence in order to promote their Insurance Broking business around the world. Their business specializes in the 'cool' end of the insurance market, insuring Films, Famous people, Productions etc, mainly in the entertainment industry. The website needs to reflect the snappy nature of this business, but also appear calm, clean and professional. The site's primary task is to attract new business, but there will be no 'hard sell', rather it will give a general company profile with a 'personal touch' that is key to White and Wilson's relationship with their clients. Some services will be available from the site, such as the ability to request a Weather Day Quote, and submit a simple Claim. These services may be expanded in the future, especially in the area of Film Equipment Quotes, depending on the response to the initial website.
A graphic of the home page 'look' has been supplied to give an idea of the styling for the site. It is important that any changes to the graphical design are made at this stage, before the 'sub-pages' are built.
Design Considerations:
A clean and professional look
Quick to download.
Easy to find the required information.
Maximum browser compatibility.
Essential to the success of any website is promotion, simply putting a site on the internet is unlikely to achieve anything as nobody knows it is there. As a minimum, the site should be registered with the 250 or so major search engines. This promotion is best undertaken by HOOP as search engines are difficult beasts to tame.
The site should also be promoted to the general insurance community online, using existing contacts and other gleaned from newsgroups and general web surfing. This promotion is best done by the White and Wilson, as you will already have industry contacts, and are in a better position to judge the value of mutual links etc.
During development, the site will be available in a development area on the internet, this allows you to give instant feedback and review progress.
The site will be broken down the following 'logical blocks' of information:
The home page will provide summary information about White and Wilson, and what the website contains. It will allow access to the all to the other pages via a menubar. The menubar will be available from all pages. The graphical design supplied gives a good indication of what the home page will look like.
This page will profile White and Wilson, with an emphasis on the 'personal'. It will profile Deborah White, and perhaps other key personnel. A link will be provided to a SOHO map, to allow visitors to find the company easily.
This page will outline White and Wilson's services, perhaps breaking down into individual pages for each service. An emphasis will be placed on short focused chunks of information, with encouragement to get in touch via email, fax or phone for further information.
White and Wilson has a number of High Profile clients. This page will contain some choice quotes about the quality of White and Wilson's services, and profile a couple of top stars in exciting locations, where equipment was insured by White and Wilson.
This page will allow an Insurance Claim to be submitted to White and Wilson. The page will be very simple initially, as much of the claim will still be handled in a conventional manner. It may be possible to further automate the Claims process in the future. Claims will arrive via email.
This page will allow visitors to the site to request a quote for Weather Day Insurance. Quotes will arrive via email.
The page will allow prospective customer to request further, specific information about White and Wilson's services. A preliminary form will be presented, collecting basic cover information including: Contact Name, Company, Address, Estimated Annual Production Costs, and Brief Details of Any Losses.
This page will allow White and Willson to form strategic links with other sites as appropriate. Exchanging links is essential for building traffic for the site, and can lead to strategic alliances that benefit all involved.
All work undertake by HOOP is charged at £36 per hour.

These costs are payable to a Service Provider, and cover registration of a domain name, in the form of www.yourname.com, a matching email account, and 10MB of Web Space. Rebus have been approached for a quote, and are probably not appropriate, as they are not specialists in web site hosting, and could supply an email address that matched the domain name.
An example of an appropriate domain name is www.whitewilson.com, which would have corresponding email addresses of anybody@whitewilson.com.
Set-up cost (one off). | £150.00 |
Annual Cost | £600.00 |
It is anticipated that this site will be relatively low maintenance, probably requiring about 3 hours per month. This will cover that addition of links, and general monitoring of the site.
