Journals on the Web

  1. to put one issue of each journal (6) on the Web in .pdf format (Adobe Acrobat)
  2. to do this we need to convert postscript files to .pdf, how will they be delivered to us? preferably on CD-ROM
  3. files need to be ordered, naming convention to be consistent
  4. front end designed (mostly done - seek approval)
  5. database - details needed for logging in - need to access database - how it is coded - who is maintaining database for subscribers
  6. security - login - password
  7. alerting by e-mail for new issues
  8. uploading - will we do it or will MUP? - if we do it we need to have password to site -
  9. new issues - aim for a consistent approach - if MUP upload/update they will need training and will need to purchase both Adobe and the programme - suggest in the first instance that we upload new issues then transfer this to MUP if they wish - will new issues be added on or will they replace - expecting 16 issues a year (4x2 and 2x4 each containing about 8 articles) -
  10. timeframe - 20 working days to beta then 5 to final upload - from acceptance of quote - thereafter 3 days for new issues from delivery of files - aim for upload end September
  11. search engine to search across multiple journals and or issues -
  12. server - NT or UNIX
  13. any other requirements
